I'm new to the forum, have a Forester 2.0 bought end of last year. Do you think an American Gracenote update would include Chinese album info? I don't think I'd want a Gracenote update from SOA (Subaru of America), but from Subaru in China. I think I might even have an old business card somewhere if I can find it on my messy desk. Other makes like Toyota have posted Gracenote updates but I doubt they are compatible. Thanks for the opportunity to be of assistance. You wrote to them? I know this topic has cropped up on various Subaru forums around the world, including, but I've yet to Google a solution. Thanks for the opportunity to be of assistance. The Gracenote database is designed to be upgradeable by a Subaru retailer technician this function is not designed for a customer to use.Īlthough we don't currently have an available Gracenote update for your 2015 Legacy, our engineers are looking into the possibility of offering this type of update in the near future. We appreciate you taking time out of your day to contact us. Thank you for contacting Subaru of America, Inc. Anyone know where we can find an updated library, please? Because if we can, then uploading it looks like the easy bit: On another note, perhaps a better workaround would be to find a way to update our Gracenote database, because I prefer to use my iPhone for playback instead of a USB flash drive. I'm missing a way to more thoroughly strip my files of metadata in order to force the HU to default to the file names.

Our HUs could benefit from a firmware update, or I then used Windows 7 to strip the files of metadata (right-click, select Properties, Select All, remove), and tried again. I copied AAC music files with both Chinese and Japanese character file names to a USB flash drive.

I think your assumptions are more or less accurate, though I didn't manage to force my HU to use filenames for title display.
